FORGING VALUES / 15-16 April 2021

The international symposium ‘Forging Values: Metals Technologies and Social Interactions in Greece and the Mediterranean from the 4th to the 1st millennium BC’ that was organised in the framework of the project was successful in promoting the research undertaken while putting it in a broader perspective. It featured presentations delivered by 20 speakers and was attended by over 100 attendees including colleagues and students from numerous institutions. It was a highly successful event allowing for increased visibility of the project among peers and the wider scientific community. Leading scholars in the field of archaeometallurgy and researchers at early and more advanced stages of their careers contributed with high quality oral presentations.

The discussions that followed were fruitful and pointed out the importance of the current project that succeeded in directing research focus to the north Aegean, a region that is under-represented in current research agendas. The proceedings will be published in form of a volume in the series Etudes d’ Archéologie of the CReA-Patrimoine, ULB edited by the PI. The introduction and two chapters of this volume will be drawing on the project’s results.
